Deborah Ramanathan, MD
Dr. Ramanathan is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, Virgina, and New Jersey. She currently works as a solo family practice physician in Quakertown, PA.. Dr. Ramanathan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and in 2004 has been awarded Physician of the Year by the Physicians Advisory Board. She is a clinical assistant professor Temple University’s School of Medicine, and was formerly an assistant professor with DeSales University. Dr. Ramanathan, has received many awards most recently being awarded the Community Preceptor Recognition Award for excellence in teaching community based primary care.
Dr. Ramanathan received her education at Madras Medical College in Madras, India graduating in 1969. After spending four years gaining extensive medical experience throughout India she broadened her already global horizon by compassionately practicing as a missionary physician to West Africa for two years. Upon emigrating to the United States Dr. Ramanathan interned at Providence Hospital in Washington D.C. In 1976 Dr. Ramanathan became a Captain in the United States Air Force and was stationed in McGuire Air Force Base,NJ and later worked in Ford Dix Army Hospital in New Jersey. Dr. Ramanathan has patriotically served her country as a physician and continued to do so choosing to work at the Farview State Hospital, PA for three years. While juggling the demands of a full time career coupled with raising a family she worked as an Emergency Room Physican until she settled in Quakertown PA in 1990. God, Country and Family, are the ideals which she strives to live by everyday.
